Parking outside of Palermo, Sicily

I've read the driving within the city of Palermo is stressful for sightseeing. Does anyone know if there are safe places outside the city where you can catch a taxi/Uber to drive to some of the sights?

I don’t think driving in Palermo is a big deal, but I also don’t think a car is a good way to sightsee.

Are you comfortable driving to a central location like the port or a train station, parking and sightseeing on foot/transit?
