Parking Outside Florence and take trains into the city

One other option is to drive to Fiesole which is a short but scenic bus ride from Florence. There is a parking lot in the center. Here is a link to Fiesole

Anyway, in Pisa we parked right accross from the tower. Couldn't have been easier. It is really on the outside perimeter of town right inside the wall.
We never drove to Florence so someone else may be able to answer.

Don't take a car into Florence....it's mainly covered by restricted traffic zones, and you'll likely get a hefty ticket in the mail after you get home (search earlier subjects on this page to see the problems people have run into.) There is no Metro, and any of the smaller "suburban" railway stations I've been to don't have parking. Instead, take a bus....there are at least a dozen express buses/day from Siena to Florence, with the ride taking about 80 minutes. It drops you off right at SMN train station in downtown Florence.

Is there parking available near siena train staion and how much does it cost by train from siena to florence - round trip second class seats.?

Fiesole is an excellent choice to park and view Florence from the hills but get there early it fills up fast.

You could also bus in from Siena to Florence. Cheap and relaxing. Gas is so expensive now you may consider this option. We parked nr leaning tower of Pisa easily 2 yrs ago. but get there early. FYI, Pisa for us was a short visit of about 2 hrs. incl lunch.

There is a parking lot several blocks from the bus station in Siena.It is near the stadium.Our hotel was near and they told us about the parking lot.The bus to Siena is the best option.
