parking on the northside of the old town florence close to the market.

my experience with florence is there isn't any parking. Last time we used a garage at 20euro a day. we'd like to avoid that if possible. any suggestions,experiences.good/bad?

Just got back from Florence and my impression is that there is NO parking available for a tourist and his/her rent-a-car in the city or adjacent areas to the core. Even if you did, you could figure abouta 50% chance of it being scared by parkers. Check out the % of cars with road-rash from sideswipes and parking bumpers.

My advice is to walk or take cabs if you stay in the center of Florence.

I stayed in the Northside near the market and there is no parking there either. If you must bring a car to Florence, I would suggest parking at the Amerigo Vespucci airport and taking a SITA bus into town. The SITA bus has a terminal one block away from the main train station.
