I've had scant luck in finding the Parcheggio arrow signs when I drive into a town, large or small. Sometimes I stumble onto on, but often I don't. Is there a way on the web to find them - Google Maps is no help. Or is there a trick that I need to know when I am in car? thanks
I am sure you know to look for a large white P on a blue background sign. Once you park, find the free-standing box to purchase a parking ticket. You must have change to purchase the ticket. We did not have problems in a small town. Yes, often times we drive around and around looking for an empty space. During high-peak, tourist season, you definitely could have a problem. A town like Florence, yes, you might have a problem. It also helps to have a co-pilot looking for you while you are dodging mopeds and other crazy Italian drivers.
Yup, but it is the driving round and round that I am trying to avoid. Ostuni, it looked cool thought I's stop in, was the worst. After 1/2 hr I just gave up trying to find a lot, if there was one. All the street parking was taken (not a surprise) I found no parking arrows leading to a lot. Drove me nuts. Anyway thanks
If you have a GPS they should be marked on the screen, if not try getting a tourist map of the city from a hotel as they will usually have areas marked or try asking a local for directions to one.
