I will have a rental car for one day in Sorrento and was wondering if anyone could offer advice on where to park it for one night. We will need to park it for the night and then return it in the AM of the following day.

The first thing you should do is to call your hotel and inquire if they have parking facilities onsite or in a nearby garage. Some hotels may not have parking, but may have arrangements with local private garages to keep cars for guests. Below is a map of public parking lots and garages in the city. Wondering why you are renting a car for one day in Sorrento? Just got back from Italy and dropped of a rental car at Hertz at the Hotel Ascot. Area around Sorrento is so congested.
It was the end of a 5 day car rental that started near Rome.

Because we are driving to the very small town my husband's grandfather is from; obviously unreachable by public transit.
