Parking in Siracusa (Ortigia)

How tough is driving and parking in Ortigia, the historic area of Siracusa? Are the streets narrow and is it scary like driving in a Tuscan hill town (I remember Volterra being especially stressful). My hotel says there is easy street parking nearby but I don't necessarily believe that. Is it worth bringing the car into Ortigia or is there somewhere I should leave it outside of the historic area?

I have driven through other parts of Italy and have been ok with the Italian style of driving but I don't want to end up on a tiny narrow street with hundreds of pedestrians.

Thanks

We had no problem, EXCEPT if you get into rush hour traffic. Just make sure that you park in a LEGAL spot. The Siracusans have a habit of parking anywhere, and then they move their car before the traffic cops show up.

Rent a GPS with your car, and you can't get lost.
