Parking in Siena on market day Wednesday

I would certainly appreciate feedback from anyone with personal experience on this- We are planning to arrive in Siena by rental car at around 11am on a market day Wednesday in May. Are we crazy to attempt to find a parking spot? Is it fairly impossible? Thanks..

Siena is tough to park in – on any day! We’ve stayed there and always hiked from our hotels. A couple of times we have driven and parked “outside” the walls in Parking Garages/Lots. That may be your best bet. I had these “garages” listed on my Garmin GPS from our last trip. You can Google Map these and see if any are consistent with the direction you will be coming from – Good luck!

Via Baldassarre Peruzzi, 36

Via Malta, 34

Strada dei Tufi, 35

Strada dei Pescaia, 33

Via dei Fontanella, 5

Piazetta 3 Luglio, 5

Viale Pietro Toselli, 31

Viale Curtatone, 16

Intersection of Via Lucherini, Via del Moro, & Piazza Provenzano Salvani

Ron is right. Parking in Siena any day is tough. If you really have to be there on market day, I would suggest you wait to arrive about 1:00 pm or a bit later. The market crowd is often pretty well gone by then.

Thanks so much for the feedback and parking information. I think we will take our chances and see what happens. We are taking the train from Cinque Terre to either Pisa or Viareggio to pick up our rental car to drive to Siena. We decided to do that b/c there were 3-4 train connections (Vernazza-Siena) for the times we wanted to travel, and that seems fairly inconvenient. I wanted to get to Siena around in the late morning so that we could experience market day too. Hopefully that doesn't backfire on us with the parking issue. Thank you!

We were able to find a parking place on market day that wasn't too far from the market. It wasn't that difficult.

I have been to Siena on market day and I had trouble finding a parking space. The main parking lot mentioned in Rick's book, I think it is by a fortezza(?) was full and we wasted an hour or two waiting to catch a spot when someone would leave. We finally moved on and found one at the soccer stadium.

We had the pleasure ??? of driving in Siena. Our hotel failed to tell us which porto to enter. Long story short, we entered on opposite side. We found, eventually, plenty of parking near Porto Tufi. Hope this helps!
