I found other related forums but they’ve been closed now. Is it difficult to get parking near the stadium? We are travelling in September and staying in an Airbnb about 5 mins away. And also does anyone know of a reputable car rental place in Siena?
The stadium is where I always park when I go to Siena. The only difficulty might be on a day when there is a soccer match of the Siena Football Club SSD (the Siena soccer team).
Sometimes I’ve also found parking at La Lizza gardens, slightly closer to the city center, but I’m not sure if that parking is now residents only. Another option is the Fortezza parking, at the Medici Fortress, also in the same area as the stadium, but a bit of a longer walk to the city center.
Thank you Roberto!
Friends were in Tuscany last September, with a car. They had a walking tour arranged for Siena and drove there on a Wednesday? late morning and couldn't find parking anywhere. It was market day and unfortunately they weren't warned about that by their travel planner who arranged the tour for them. After driving around for over an hour, they gave up and had to cancel their tour. When they talked to others afterward they were told parking is very difficult on market day, so just keep that in mind when planning.
Remember:
Yellow stripes on the ground = restricted parking of some sort (residents only or handicapped only or special vehicles only, like police etc.)
Blue stripes on the ground=Pay parking (metered or pay lot of some sort)
White stripes on the ground= Free parking (but watch for signs anyhow, as some places may have restrictions too)
Also pay attention to the parking restrictions for street cleaning on certain days of the week. Those can affect the pay parking too.
Look at the image below, where you see the street cleaning no parking sign set for Sat. morning from 6 to 8 am.

The Wednesday morning market is between the Stadium and the Fortress all the way to La Lizza, and the stands take a lot of space, so a lot of parking spaces are gone. By 2pm it's all gone.
Learn the signs. European signs are pictorial only for the most part, so you need to know the symbols.
