Parking in Sicily

We will be heading to Sicily in the late Spring. We are focusing on the Eastern side of the Island. During part of our trip, we will be staying in Cefalu (we have a parking space there), but we will be visiting some of the smaller towns in the Madonie Mountains. I have the RS Sicily book that has some basic information on parking in Sicily, but I am curious how hard it will be to find parking in some of the smaller towns. I assume these towns will be unlikely to have larger lots like those found in Cefalu, Ortigia, etc. I have tried Googling parking and not found much. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

We had no real trouble in Sicily last spring parking just outside of the ZTLs, EXCEPT when we ran into markets and street festivals we didn't know would be right there where we wanted to park. Then we had to backtrack a bit and find another way to park near where we were going (museum, restaurant, church, apartment). In a month of driving around Sicily, this happened maybe five times. If I'm remembering correctly, it was always street parking we were looking for.

If parking doesn’t work, try Parcheggio. You may get more results. It’s very possible that in many really small villages, as you’ve noted, there are no large lots. If you know which towns/villages you’ll be visiting use satellite view and look to see where there is street parking. Then, use street view to see if it’s free (white parking lines) or pay (blue parking lines). Yellow or green lines are usually restricted parking in some fashion, e.g., permits, residents, etc.

Don't sweat it. Parking tends to be much more dispersed; street parking and small ±20 space lots.

Use the EasyPark app to pay for parking, pay attention to the signs re: street cleaning days and look for color painted on the road; White is free, Blue is paid (use the app), and other colors are reserved e.g. handicapped.

Rent a small car, get the full zero-deductable insurance, and have a great trip.
