I will be driving to both town in September. Where do you park and is there transportation ti the town center?
Last September we parked in lots just outside the old town walls of both towns. As I recall we had to pay. It was easy--there are signs to the parking lots as you approach the towns. One doesn't need transportation to the town centers; they're a short walk. For detailed info see the RS Italy book. Have a great trip.
Both have parking areas at the gates, last, year was pay and display, while San G had a boom gate parking area.
Thanks, looking forward to this trip.
Be careful and pay attention to the ZTL zones where you are not allowed to drive in or they fine you. You'll be fine in both city by parking in the lots outside the town.
We just toured Voltera and there is public parking just outside the city. The town is quite walkable and easy to navigate so really does not require transportation once you're there. Be sure to visit the ancient Roman theatre ruins- really interesting. Also Voltera is known for alabaster so take time to visit the many shops that sell it- remarkable!
Thanks, all.
