We booked accommodations in Siracusa to avoid hassles parking in Ortigia. But I am considering switching to accommodation in Ortigia after having read reviews of Ortigia as being a wonderful place to stay.
Feedback would be appreciated from your personal experience parking in Ortigia and/or Siracusa. I think both have ZTL. We will be there in mid October. Our host mentioned that there is some free street parking near our rental in Siracusa. We plan to walk/bus into Ortigia for a day trip.

Just after crossing onto Ortigia we turned left and parked in the pay lot at Riva Sauro, 1. We did not spend the night on the island. Much of the island is in a ZTL. If staying on Ortigia, ask your lodging where you should park. Don’t count on there being any free places.
At the lot we parked at the parking machines only accepted 1€ coins, no credit cards. Nearby Parcheggio Talete Parking garage appears to accept credit cards. There appears to be some free parking prior to crossing onto the island, but it seems limited. Google maps shows the parking areas.
We stayed at the south end of Ortigia. There was temporary parking nearby the accommodation to unload. Then we parked overnight at the Parcheggio Talete. Everything is within easy walking distance.
We parked in Talete also. Depending on where you stay you may have to walk a bit to your lodging. But it is not too difficult to reach.
