We are staying for a couple if days in Riomaggiore this August. We are 2 adults with 2 small children. We have heard that the best option is to park our hire car in La Spezia and travel in by train. We can't find the website for advance booking in the often recommended La Spezia Centrale train station parking lot - can anyone help?!

AFAIK, there is no advance booking in the car park. I believe they have 116 parking spaces, so you should be able to find a spot (if not there are other lots). The La Spezia station car park has been referred to as a "bit pricey", so be sure to budget for that.
There is limited parking in Riomaggiore, but I believe it's "first come, first served", and in August it could be busy. Hopefully Roberto or one of the others can provide more detailed information. Getting around the Cinque Terre by train is definitely the best idea. The trip from La Spezia Centrale to Riomaggiore is only about eight minutes!

There is reserved parking in the Centrale Stazione parking. It is handled along with tour bus parking, and other functions. One must register on the website, but it's fairly easy. When you're in, there a menu listing on the left for Book Centrale Stazione parking. To begin registration, click in the Park Centrostazione box on the lower right of the home page:

The cost at Centralstazione Park is now 17E per day, but to reserve you'll need your car's plate number.
