Any suggestions on where to park in Florence for the day.

Day parking is not a huge problem, it's overnight parking in Florence that is the big problema. Look for the parking signs or let your GPS find them or go to viamichelin.com and let it show you where they are. But stay well away from the infamous restricted zones with cameras that hand out the $150 fines. People here have gotten several of those within one hour in Florence.

There is an excellent parking garage near Piazza Cesare Beccaria. Plug that Piazza into your GPS and it will simplify your life. Easy walking distance from there to all of the sights. We parked there when we went to Florence and when we returned, the garage was closed. Luckily there was an attendant still there who let us out and we ended up not having to pay at all for parking.
