We will be driving from San Gimingnano to Florence for a day visit. Any recommendations on where to park?

Parking lot at Porta Romana (Piazzale Di Porta Romana).
Coming from San Gimignano on the Siena-Florence freeway, the freeway ends on a roundabout. Take the second roundabout exit to Firenze (blue signs). Don't follow the green signs or you will get on the A1 freeway. Take the road all the way straight. Eventually you will be forced to turn right on via del Gelsomino. Go there and turn left on Viale del Poggio Imperiale. At the bottom of the hill, maybe 1/2 km later, there is Porta Romana (one of the City Wall Gates). There is parking there (€2/hr) and you can walk to the city center.
You could also go to Piazzale Michelangelo and park for free at the San Miniato church or near the Piazzale. In that case you would proceed straight from via Gelsomino at the intersection (then right on viale Galileo), however from the Piazzale to the city center it's a 25 min walk (which is uphill when you go back to pick up the car) therefore the taxi might be better.
Another alternative from San Gimignano is to park at the Certaldo or Poggibonsi station near SG and take the train (or the bus) to Florence.
