Has anyone driven a car to Bellagio recently? We have a reservation at a hotel right on the lake, but I am very concerned as to whether we will be able to find a place to park our car. We don't mind paying; we just want to be able to park our car and leave it there for the three nights that we will be staying at the hotel. If you did find a place to park, where was it? Thank you.
Just checking--have you inquired with the hotel yet? That is always my first stop, then I also look at Google Maps for parking lots. Someone will hopefully come along with recent experience, but it can be really helpful to get familiar with the terrain, especially if you are driving in or near ZTLs. See https://www.bellagiotravelguide.com/ztl/ if you are unfamiliar.
As above, contact the hotel first. Second, there will be parking somewhere but maybe not conveniently located to your hotel. Most of the parking is available south of the ferry docks, near the gardens. Some is specifically residential parking (the most convenient). Your hotel is going to be your best source for information as they may have some secured spots specific for their use.
Thank you both for your responses. I have contacted the hotel (Hotel Florence) several times. They only say that the parking is 700 meters from the hotel. That would be fine, so long as we could find a spot. I have been disappointed in their lack of help with the parking and am about to decide to stay near Tremezzo, where there will be no parking problems.
Dena,
just want to be able to park our car and leave it there for the three nights that we will be staying at the hotel.
Are you planning to take day trips while in Bellagio?
If the answer is no, then you might consider taking the train from Milan (Milano Centrale to Varenna-Esino) then the ferry to Bellagio, and forgo the car.
Enjoy your trip!
The closest parking to the hotel Florence is here, but it's for residents only (yellow stripes is reserved parking).
Further south, you can park here pay parking (blue stripes is pay parking).
There is more pay parking further south on the same street as you can see here. Some spots may actually be free as I don't see the blue stripes.
All of the pay parking above are within 700 m from the hotel so less than 1/2 mile. However from the Google images (which were taken in Apr 2023), it appears they are pretty full. I don't know if that will be the case when you go, but Bellagio is the most popular destination at the Lake so I wouldn't be surprised.
Last time I was at lake Como, a few years ago, I stayed in Menaggio, which has plenty of free parking. Before staying in Tremezzo, I would stay in Menaggio, because Menaggio, Bellagio, and Varenna have the most frequent ferry service, since they are all served by the Mid-Lake shuttle ferries. Since you have a car, from Menaggio you can also visit Lugano (CH), only 45 min drive away. Lugano is a beautiful city on lake Lugano, albeit with Swiss prices.
