Parking in Bari Around Historic Center

Hi! My husband and I will be driving from Ostuni to Bari. We are staying at an Airbnb in the historic center where no driving is allowed, at least based on my research. Does anyone have a recommendation for a garage around the historic center, or has anyone parked on the street (Lungomare Imperatore Augusto) overnight? Any tip/help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

We parked in a large open parking lot called Via Ruggiero Il Normanno Parcheggio on the west side of Bari's historic district. It was OK and there was a ticket machine, but I don't know if overnight is OK there.

Funny story about this parking lot. There was an older man with an official-looking vest and hat who waved us into the lot and then guided us to a parking spot and then insisted (in a friendly way) on helping us get a ticket from the machine even though we said in Italian that we were fine doing it ourselves. He said he would watch our car for us.

I can't remember exactly how this came about, but my husband gave this guy a euro or two. We watched him help other people. Pretty clear that he was NOT the official parking lot attendant, but we kind of enjoyed his enterprise and figured he probably would keep an eye on the cars and also figured that a euro or two was a decent price for such an interesting experience. When we left many hours later, he was still helping people park their cars.

Anyway, you can find additional places to park by Googling on "parking Bari Italy" --- that's all we did.

Thanks. We are trying to figure out the logistics: historic center, carrying luggage, and overnight parking. It will all work out, but still not too sure how.

Your airbnb host should be able to tell you where to park overnight nearest to the apartment. The historic center is very small and flat and walkable, so carrying your luggage a short distance should not be a problem, even if you have to make two trips.

On Google Street view, you can see that one side of Lungomare Imperatore Augusto has a blue line (pay parking) and one side a yellow line (restricted - probably resident only). Signs on the blue side say (at the time the camera passed) you must pay 1E per hour from 8:30am to 8:30pm on workdays (i.e. not Sunday or holidays). I couldn't read the smaller type on the rest of the sign, but usually that scenario would allow overnight parking and the money one puts in beyond the nighttime limit is credited to the next morning.
If you enter 'Bari Italy Parking' into Google Maps, it will show parking facilities marked with clickable designations. There are also reviews of unknown trustworthiness associated therewith. When travelling, one can use that option to create Google directions directly to particular parking options.

Your best advice may be obtained from the AirBnB proprietor. Ask their advice for parking access.
