Does anyone have recommendations for the most convenient - and safe - place to park a rental car for a very quick stop to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa? We don't have much time on the day that we'll be in the area but we don't want to miss the iconic attraction. We'd like to be able to safely leave our luggage in the car and make a quick stop before we get on the road for a drive down to Umbria. Thank you!

We were there last month for just a couple of hours. We had two rental cars and found a nice lot using our GPS about two or three blocks from the Leaning Tower. Only three Euros to park for an unlimited time. It felt safe and secure. The GPS helped us numerous times finding parking in many places we visited. Hope you will be traveling with one. "safely leave luggage in car" is an oxymoron.
Maybe just drive by and take a look, its not as exciting as it seems, lol At very least, take all valuables with you, do not leave any cameras, laptops etc in car period, and make sure it is out of sight, and for goodness sake DON"T park, then go to your trunk and load it with your stuff , or check on your stuff and lock car and walk off. Anyone watching now knows you are in transit and have all your stuff in trunk. If you have to access trunk in anyway do it before you park your car in another area on approach.
