Parking for a day visit to Florence

Can anyone recommend full day parking that is close to Piazzale Michelangelo? Also, we will be visiting the City of Florence on June 24, which is feast of St John's day.

Not knowing where you're coming from, this parking area is good from either north or south.
Which will totally eleminate any possible ZTLs.
Then a quick tram ride into the city.

You can reach Piazzale Michelangelo by bus 12 or 13 from the city center.

We will be coming from Bagno a Ripoli (south of Florence). We do not mind walking to the center of Florence. I wondering if we could park at the Piazzale Michelangelo parking or somewhere close by. We want to stay the day in the City, so for 4 to 8 hours and will need a secure place for our rental vehicle.

There is pay parking on Piazzale Michelangelo but with limited stalls. Few places are also available nearby at the San Miniato church. Occasionally there are events on the piazza when parking is totally prohibited. June 24 is one of those days. If you plan to park for the day and visit the city I gave you the best options in your previous post.
If you are scared of parking too close to the center, park on Piazza Francia, behind the Italiana Hotel, or park at the Parcheggio Scambiatore Europa (see your previous post) and take a taxi. It won’t cost more than 15€ to catch the taxi from there to downtown. The bus 23 is also available every 5 min for 1.50€.

Looks like Bagno a Ripoli has bus service to Florence. Why not just do that? Drops you right at train station.

Thank you all for your suggestions and help. I am taking it all in. The bus option looks intriguing to me however, being a suburban girl all my life, I have never used a public bus. I see that it is line 36 that goes to Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. Where do I buy tickets? The Poggio Secco bus stop works for us since there is a parking lot there also. I had a hard time with the ATAF website. Clicking "english" was not effective. Also, with us going on June 24th, Feast of St John's day, will the bus schedule be different?

Buy your bus tickets from a newsstand or tabacchi-- anywhere you see the ATAF sign.
I am pretty sure you can also buy from driver although he may not have change.

I'd guess holiday bus schedule probably same/similar to a Sunday schedule.

If you are considering Poggio Secco, then you may be yes in the municipality of Bagno a Ripoli, however you are more precisely near the Cascine Del Riccio, a “frazione” (village/district) of the municipality of Bagno a Ripoli. Had cousins living at Cascine Del Riccio and the notion of having a suburban American lady driving in those narrow ancient roads worries me a bit (buy full insurance for your rental car, in case you scrape all the walls).

As I mentioned above, parking at Piazzale Michelangelo is limited and sometimes unavailable because of special events. On June 24 it will be closed as fireworks shoot from there. The link provided by Francoise above specifically says that it is unlikely you will be able to find a vacant spot on the limited space available on the Piazza, and I agree because I can never find one as it is a popular destination.

A better option for you is the parking lot below. Save it in your google maps navigator. It’s on the inside of the city walls at Porta Romana, but before the ZTL camera. enter the city gate and turn left immediately before passing under the camera. From there walk to the center, it’s short.
If you prefer the bus, you can buy tickets at Tobacconists or newsstands displaying the ATAF logo. Drivers do not sell tickets, although some buses have vending machines on board. Tickets are validated on board (date stamped) by a machine when you board the bus and are valid for 90 min with unlimited bus transfers within that time. If you don’t validate and a controller comes on board to spot check passengers they will fine you.

Roberto da Firenze has beat me to it - I've started using the Oltrarno Parking a lot now - I used to always leave the car below Piazzale Michelangelo. So far, I've always found space and it's (relatively) cheap. So a plus one for the Parcheggio Oltrarno.
