I will arrive to Rome very late at night to my hotel - close to termini station - and I will drop the car at the rental place first thing in the morning... so I just need a one night parking place

Gilberto,

In my experience, parking near Termini is a bit of a "nightmare". There doesn't seem to be any consistency with the parking regulations in that area.

I can provide an example. One afternoon I was strolling into Termini and I noticed an Italian driver (who had just parked on the street) furiously arguing with another individual. The second person eventually stormed off, and I asked the driver "who is he, does he think he owns this parking spot" and the reply was "YES he does"! From what I could gather, the parking in that particular area wasn't administered by the city? I never did find out whether that argument was resolved?

You'll want to be VERY CAREFUL of the parking, or you could end up like this driver in Rome.....

As the others have indicated, having a car in Rome is a major headache. If you're coming from the north, you might want to drop it in Orvieto and take the train from there.

Happy travels!

I am renting with Europcar and I should drop the car at the ROMA Termini Stazione (Via Giolitti 34) and they open from 8:00 to 13:00 ... Since I will be getting late at night to Rome, Do you know if I can leave the car in front of the rental car office? Is that possible?

The rental car drop-off at Via Gioletti is in a parking garage. I have dropped off a rental car there in the past (not Europcar, so check on their policies). Make sure you take PLENTY of pictures of the car... I did, but I got a surprise $667 charge on my credit card a few months later - And I bought $0 deductible insurance coverage!! After a few heated conversations, emails, me filing a complaint with CapitalOne.... I finally got an "apology" from the rental company that they had made a "clerical" error and it was all a mistake.

It appears from your times (0800-1300) you are coming in on a Sunday... and late at night (pre-Monday) Sunday would probably be the WORST late night to try and find a parking space near Termini. Most of the parking garages will also be closed on Sundays. So you should probably contact Europcar (as suggested) and get options, drop off in Orvieto (which may be blocked by your Sunday arrival - although a GREAT idea), drop the car in the rental car garage if you can get in, or plan on cruising the streets looking for a parking space! Sorry I couldn't offer more options.

Ciao - Ron in Rome
