I am planning a trip to Italy in the Fall. We are driving back from Tuscany and are staying in Rome the night before we fly back to the States. I would like to know of a good place to park the car that is convenient to a good hotel and access to the city center.
Thanks for the info. What about hotels in the periphery and then a taxi into the center?
You could do that, but this is the night before you fly out, so what many travelers do in that situation is: return the car at or near the Orvieto train station, then train into Rome, stay in the city center, and (depending on time of your flight) get a taxi or shuttle to the airport in the morning. Or, return the rental car to the Rome airport, take the train into the city center for the last night (you can throw a coin in the fountain), then take taxi or shuttle to airport in the morning. Either option avoids having to find overnight parking, taxis into the city center from your periphery hotel, then back out to the hotel that night, then driving to the airport in the morning.
Great advise. Thanks.
