Part of my month in Europe is a 2 day stay in a hotel on Lido di Venezia, Venice, in March. I am arriving with a rental car I will need to leave somewhere on the mainland and then get transportation to the hotel. What is my best (most ecenomical) parking option? The Marco Polo airport?
You do know that the Lido is connected by land to the south, south of Venice? That you can drive up Lido? Also that there is a car ferry (number 17 until they change it again) from the mainland just south of Mestre across the lagoon to Lido? And that you can get there from the north by ferry from Punta Sabione? So you can have your car with you. If you don't want to do that and want to pay the rental for the parked car and parking fees you can park in Mestre and take the train into Ve. Santa Lucia station then the number 1 vaporetto along the Grand Canal and across the lagoon to Lido. By the time you have parked it, trained, vaporettoed across it will have taken you a couple of hours and a fair wodge of wonga. If your hotel provides parking on Lido I would probably drive there . Since you are staying in Lido I'm guessing that this is a return trip to La Serenissima, and that you don't plan much time actually in the main part of Venice?
