We would like to stay at the Albergo Milano in Varenna but their private parking is full. Has anyone had experience parking in Varenna? Is there something near the hotel? How close to the hotel can we get so we can at least unload our luggage?
Also have you eaten at the restaurant at the hotel? Is it a fish-based menu since they are on a lake or are there other choices? Thanks for any input.
You might be able to park overnight at the train station that is close to Albergo Milano. Howevr break ins are a concern anywhere in Italy. There is street parking near ferry and also. If it is not a wkend or holiday you will prob find street parking but conceal all valuables.
We stayed at Albergo Milano last year 5 nights and ate at the restaurant first night--good food & other choices besides fish. We loved Varenna & recommend eating at Mario's, a 4-table restaurant. Mario does the cooking and interacts with the diners, a great experience. We also ate in Bellagio and Menaggio--all meals good. Can't answer the car question. We traveled by train from Milan and traveled all over the lake via ferry.
