Has anyone taken this day trip and what did you think? Sounds like it could be a nice Sunday morning.

Sure. I wouldn't even call it a day trip though, easily can be done in a few hours. You could even combine it with the Parco Caffarella, where you can walk around in the green, ride horses, view ancient ruins, watch how fresh cheese is made, and more. Together they would make for a nice day away from the hustle and bustle of Roma :)
