Park and ride to Campo dei Fiori?

Arriving FCO and staying overnight nearby. Renting car to drive north to Tuscany (Vertelli) is it a possibility to find a parking lot to take public transportation to the Campo dei Fiori without it taking 4 hours? 😜 We would like to shop there before heading north. We'll be taking the train from Arezzo for a day trip later so this isn't really a tour day. Let me know if it's just a time suck or of there are some easier access farmers market on the way. Thank you.

Campo dei Fiori is not the farmer's market it was many years ago.
Last time I walked through it on the way to somewhere else; it was selling more cheap leather, scarves and touristy-y stuff than actual fruit and vegetables.
You need a bottle of limoncello shaped like a boot? stop there.
Don't make a complicated trip into Rome just to go there.
Instead, look up the town websites of any towns or villages you will be driving through on your way to your final destination that day, to see if they have a daily market on that day.
Or shop when you arrive, near your accommodation.

Thanks so much for letting me know that it's not what it used to be We'll just try to find something on the road.
