I have 3 nights, 4 days, to explore France, Switzerland or Italy on my way to Venice from Paris. Where would you suggest I stop on the way? I'd sort of like to have a base, rent a car, and see some small towns and beautiful nature, but I'm open to other ideas. ( I was going to head to Liechtenstein but it looks like it will be raining and without the mountians, I don't know if it's worth it.)
Are you going soon? Will weather be a concern? Are you renting a car in Paris and returning it on Venice ( i.e., have you looked at the drop fees?) What else would you like to see with the scenery- art, history, wine tastings, etc?
Thats a nice long drive; Mappy.com says 10 hours, 44 minutes, which means you'll be traveling longer with stops. Mappy routes you near Geneve and thru some of the Italiian ski areas when I checked "avoid passes".
I'll get to Paris on Nov. 7, spend the night, then take the train to Venice - circuitously if it's more fun that way. I thought that on the way I could get off somewhere, rent a car for a couple of days to explore an area, then hop back on the train and head on to Venice. I've never been to Liechtenstein, so I had originally planned to stay a couple of nights in that area, but if it's raining, I don't know if it's worth it. The mountains will be hidden.
