Paris to Venice - Cheaper to fly for 3 adults? Where to stay B and B style

It looks like it is cheaper to get to Venice from Paris by flying for 3 adults. Any thoughts on the matter?

We will stay in Mantova (Mantua), Venice, Florence, Rome, and Cinque de Terre. Any great B and B style accomodations? Train only, no car. Thanks!

On flying: Just make sure the flight gets to the right airport. Some (but not all) of the budget carriers fly into Treviso airport (TSF) instead of venice Marco Polo (VCE). From Treviso it's about an hour bus ride to Venice. Same on the front end some fly out of Orly (ORY)instead of CDG

We have been staying in apartments in Venice for a number of years. here are some agencies:

There are several others. You can use www.venere.com for hotels and b&b.

easyJet is your best budget airline choice. It flies to VCE from both ORY and CDG.

Fares on Ryanair are likely to be a bit cheaper, but Beauvais is a long way from Paris and Treviso is well outside Venice. You need to factor in the time and expense of getting to and from those airports.

Just a clarification to James' post...discount carriers like Ryanair, easyjet, etc, base their prices on one-way tickets...there's no benefit with them to booking round trip.
To check out which airlines fly the route, and prices, check whichbudget.com and skyscanner.net
Frankly, if you're in Paris, it's a lot easier to get to Orly than to CDG.

Hmmmm, James, the latest I've ever had a discount flight has been 15 minutes....

Family of 3,

I don't know where you looked for fares for the Paris-Venice night train, but you may not know how to get the best discount fares. You can book all four bunks in a four-person couchette for €260 (€65/bunk). Or you can book a three-bed sleeper for €125/person.

To get these fares you need to book ASAP (up to three months allowed) at www.tgv-europe.com. To keep the site in English and to avoid being bumped to the Rail Europe site which doesn't offer discount fares, choose Great Britain as your country of residence. Pick up your tickets at any SNCF station in France.
