Paris to Italy to Barcelona- 16 Nights

Hello- we are planning a trip with our three children (two teens and 9 year old). We are using miles for airfare and are priced out of flying in or out of Italy, although it is a desired destination. We can either fly in and out of Paris, or into Paris and out of Barcelona. We have 16 nights (not considering travel).

Some ideas:
Paris- 4 nights, overnight train to Venice one night
Venice- 2 nights
Rome- 3 nights
Amalfi Coast/Naples- 3 nights
Fly to Barcelona- 3 nights

Is this too rushed?

Or if we fly out of Paris, we would fly back from Naples, but I am liking the idea of visiting one more city. I also had thoughts of visiting Cinque Terre, but seems like too much. I have been to Paris, Venice, Rome and Barcelona before so hoping for at least one area that is new to me (all will be new to my kids and it has been 20 years for me!)

Thanks in advance!

When are you planning to go? And where are you flying from?

I think you'd find the overnight train ride to be exhausting w/3 kids. Plus more expensive.

Look at flights on Easyjet current prices for June are 24,90-34,90€
Paris Orly(Ory)>Venice(VCE). 1H40m
Just be sure to check their luggage restrictions.

Look at Easyjet and Vueling for Naples ( NAP) >
Barcelona (BCN). Time 2 hours. Cost $55-$78.

I personally would skip Barcelona and add those 3 nights to your other locations. Less travel allows you and your family to see more.

Thanks- we would need to travel back to either Paris or Barcelona from Italy as we can't fly out of Italy. Does that change whether we should leave it out?

Your family may hate this, but drop Venice, it deserves 3-4 nights. Save it for another trip when you combine it with Florence and the Tuscan hillside. Add a night each to Rome & the Amalfi Coast.

This will still give you enough diversity among your other locations, and you get to see a new area.

Fly Paris Orly-Rome using the two airlines I mentioned above plus check Alitalia's flights.
Time should be 2-2 1/2 hours.
