Has anyone traveled from Paris to Rome cruise port by car after the horrendous bridge collapse near Genoa? We're trying to figure out the best way to bypass this area, as it would probably add 2 or 3 hours to follow the planned route. Any and all suggestions are much appreciated.
https://www.viamichelin.com/ shows two routes, the one recommended (13h35, 1334 km, costs: €285.70 including Toll €157.10, Consumption €128.60) is via Genoa but not via the affected bridge. It involves approaching Genoa from the north on the A7, and then turning east along the coast on the A12. The bridge missing is the connection to the A10 to go west from Genoa, and also to get to the docks and airport.
The alternative route via Switzerland and Milan does not go through Genoa.
This is a long drive, and will require at least one overnight stop. If this is a rented car, are you aware that renting a car in one country and returning it in another incurs a large surcharge. Driving to another country and then returning it back in the first country is no problem.
