Paris, Rome, Amalfi Cost

Hi Everyone,
My wife and I are planning our first trip to Europe and are looking for some advice from those that have been there/done that! We're going to mid-May this year, traveling from the Eastern time zone in the US and taking two full weeks for the trip. We're thinking of doing the following:
3 days in Paris
4 days in Rome
4 days in Amalfi Coast
3 days built in for travel

I guess my question is, is this too much travel for the trip? Being our first trip over there, we want to make our rounds a bit, see cultural sites, walk around and explore the culture, eat great meals and take it all in. Any insights/advice you have to offer is much appreciated!!

Too much travel
Why not just see Italy?
Even if you chose just Italy I’d drop Amalfi save that area for your 2nd trip.

Have you booked flights?
How many NIGHTS do you actually have IN Europe?

I don’t think that is too much at all. On our first trip to Italy, we had 10 nights and did 4 cities. We enjoyed it.

My advice would be to use those extra days and stay in Florence and Rome and use them for day trips.

I understand the desire to see two different countries in one trip and see nothing wrong with that.

It's not too much, but I'd want at least equal time in Paris. For flights from Paris to Rome, check www.skyscanner.com, which may catch more budget flights than some other search engines. Trenitalia train tickets from Rome to Naples or Salerno are easy to buy there but also probably already bookable online once you're committed to dates and times.
