Help! I am trying to plan a vacation with my 3 teens in July. We are doing a cruise out of Rome that visits Greece, Turkey, and Naples. I have about a week that I can extend the vacation pre or post-cruise and I'm very overwhelmed with what direction to go. My flights are less expensive to Paris so I was thinking of starting or ending there, but don't want to get overwhelmed. I could also fly into Italy (Rome, Naples, or Milan). Anyone have ideas of what works well without overwhelming first time European travelers?
When you add the cost of flights to/from Rome is there a real saving by flying to Paris?
You could easily spend a week in Paris and not run out of things to do,
Have you looked at a multi-city ( aka open jaw) ticket such as USA-Paris, Rome-USA? Then all you need to do is one move (fly) from Paris to Rome
It's Jubilee in Rome/Italy this year and everything is SUPER crowded and most things are booked & more expensive. And July in Rome is HOT HOT HOT. Any other year or month - I'd say fly into Venice for 3 days, then Florence for 3 days, then onto Rome. But 2025 Jubilee makes everything more complicated. Where are you flying out of? Would you visit Paris for a week, then fly to Rome for the cruise? Rome is worthy of 3-4 days minimum, and you really need a private guide to really appreciate and see the best things.
