Paper Regionale train ticket

Hi

I have questions about the PAPER regionale train tickets.

  1. Say I need to travel from Trieste Centrale to Treviso. Should I buy 1 ticket (Trieste Centrale to Treviso) or 2 separate tickets (ticket 1 Trieste Centrale to Venezia Mestre / ticket 2 Venezia Mestre to Treviso)? Does it make a difference for my next question?

  2. If I missed my connecting Regionale train? Say Triste Centrale to Venezia Mestre was late and I couldn't connect C.V. to Treviso train. What can I do? My understanding is that since I have the paper ticket, then as long as it's within the 4-hour window, then I can just jump on the next available regionale train using my already-validated ticket if it's 1-ticket scenario.

In 2-ticket scenario, then I just validate the 2nd ticket closer to the next train departure time?

Can you tell me if I have it correctly? Thank you.

Treviso C? Treviso C to Treviso?

If you buy a through ticket and they give you one piece of paper, quite obviously you have to time-stamp only once.

If the guy at the counter prints two tickets, you can validate both at the same time or punch the second one right before getting on the second train. Once you know You have four hours to take that train from the time stamped on that ticket, you can decide by yourself what to do. I guess it depends on how long the all train trip is, when the next regionale departs to your final destination and on how much time you have to change. Nobody's going to decide for you, it's 4 hours and you can start the clock whenever you want.

Sorry, but I am a little confused. What is the difference in "Treviso C" and "Treviso"? I see only two Treviso's listed on the Trenitalia trip planner, "Treviso Centrale" and "Treviso Aeroporto", and those are connected by the Airlink Bus.

@Dario & @Sam

Sorry typo.
It should Trieste Centrale to Treviso. I've made the change to the question.

@Dario: if the 1st train arrived late, and I didn't make the 2nd train, can I take the later train for the 2nd portion Castelfranco Veneto to Treviso? In other words, can I jump on the next C.V. to Treviso train without buying another ticket? Or I need to buy another ticket?

I am still confused. If you are going from Trieste Centrale to Treviso Centrale, why don't you just take a direct train? There are direct trains at 6:58, 8:58, 10:58, 11:58, 12:58, and many more later.
Or are you really wanting to go from Trieste Centrale to Castelfranco Veneto, in which case you would take a direct train to Treviso Centrale and change to a train to Castelfranco Veneto. Treviso is between Trieste and Castelfranco Veneto.

@Sam So sorry. It should be Venezia Mestre. I've corrected in the question now.

@Dario Just wanted to know if the first train got delayed and I missed the 2nd train, what are my options? Do I get another ticket? Or it's fine to jump on to the next available train?

Thank you

Sorry, lugubres but I don't know how else to explain that paper regionale tickets can be used on any train running the picked route within 4 hours after validation. There isn't a train number written on Regionale paper tickets, just the route you have paid for and the day you can use it.

@Sam The actual trip is Trieste Central to Treviso. Sometimes there are are direct trains but depending on our time we might be able to make it. That's why the trains with 1 connection at Venezia Mestre for us. Of course once we are there maybe things change and we will end up taking the direct train. Thank you very much for pointing out the options. Much appreciated.
