Papal General Audience Tickets

My husband and I are planning on visiting Rome in a few months - mid October. We're arriving on a Sunday morning and will likely train to Venice mid week. I see where there will be a Papal General Audience Wednesday of the first week we are there. "tickets required".

According to: http://www.papalaudience.org/tickets
Papal General Audience : "If you need less than 10 tickets you can normally pick up tickets without a reservation (subject to availability) from the Swiss Guards at the "Bronze Doors" located just after security in the colonnade of St. Peter's Basilica."

It goes on to provide a link to download the form which must be emailed, posted or faxed to the Vatican.

Wondering what the likelihood is of actually receiving tickets if we were to submit our request via email?

Eager to hear what you, experienced travelers, have to say.

Thanks!
