Papal Audience Ticket Pickup

I've read that Wednesday papal audience tickets can be picked up until 7pm the night before or beginning at 7am Wednesday morning. We are arriving in Rome on Tuesday and trying to determine which train we will take. Do any of you have experience picking up tickets the morning of a papal audience? Were you able to pick up the tickets early enough to still have a good seat for the audience or do you recommend that we select a train arriving early enough for us to pick up tickets on Tuesday afternoon? Thanks!

The tickets are not for a reserved seat. When you pick them up has no bearing on where you will get to sit.

You need to arrive at St Peters, around 8ish ( earlier is better) to get something nearer the front of the seating area.

Its "General admission", seating is 1st come 1st pick.
