Papal Audience Question

Hi all,

A group of 6 of us are visiting the Vatican City on 10th June. It so happens it is the day of the Papal Audience so I was wondering if it's possible to obtain tickets on-the-spot?

I know we can write or fax in; unfortunately, we're leaving for Italy on 31st May and we don't really use fax machines over here (Singapore). So by the time I get the mail back it's probably too late. Our itinerary is also packed all the way until 10th June so it's hard to find time to make a special trip down to the Vatican just to get the tickets.

Thus, I was wondering if there's any chance of getting tickets on-the-spot on the day of the audience itself? Otherwise we would just choose to head straight to the Museum instead.

You probably cannot get tickets unless your local bishop can hook you up; However, you can always attend without tickets. You will be in the standing-room-only area in the piazza, which is very large.

If you're Catholic, it is worth checking with your pastor. My pastor was able to arrange tickets that I picked up at the North American College when I arrived in Rome. There must be a pontifical university for seminarians and priests from Singapore; your pastor might be able to arrange for you to pick up tickets there. Otherwise, as noted above, there is a very large area for standing, And no tickets required there.

Do arrive early. In mid October, we arrived around 8 AM and the Square was already almost half full. It almost certainly will be more crowded in June.

You could consider this "tour" which includes papal audience tickets. You show up the day of the papal audience and the tour guide gives you some history on the Vatican and then directs you to your seat.
