The town of Panzano is set on SR 222. There is an older part up the hill. Local butcher Dario Checchini has become a media star and is featured on Netflix’s “Chef’s Table”, Season 6, Episode 2. Visit his butcher shop, eat at one of his restaurants.
Enoteca Baldi is a good place to eat in town too.
We spent a week on Panzano, a wonderful experience.

Oh wow! Amazed to see Panzano mentioned here! I had a friend living there for some years and visited a couple of times. I remember it as a quiet, traditional small town with lovely views of the surrounding vineyards, which were punctuated by signs proclaiming "siete nel mondo del gallo nero" ("you are in the land of the black rooster" -- referring to the symbol for Chianti wines). I was told that the castle where Kenneth Branagh's "Much Ado About Nothing" was filmed was close by. Taking the bus there from Florence involved lots of sharp curves, causing passengers to sway and packages to slide around.

Get the book Heat by Bill Buford about his time in Panzano. Hilarious and a great read if you are a foodie!
