Rick's Rome guide book says one can get a free Pantheon reservation at pantheon.cultura.gov.it/en. I cannot access that site; it doesn't seem to be operating. If anyone can tell me how to get a free reservation for Friday afternoon, May 12, please do.
You only need reservations for Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise first come first serve.
I could not access the site either. I used this site: https://www.pantheonroma.com/visit-the-pantheon/#!/e/97aab8d627a5fe4366e0d3ca55187037 . The reservations were going fast, so I rented the audioguides to be able to make the reservations while there were a few tickets left. It might have been a sales tactic, but we only had one day that we could do it.
Try this?

They only book up to the nearest weekend.
Thank you, all. Kathy from Minnesota, it appears your site permits reserving only for the weekend. If you think I'm not using it correctly, please let me know.
Reservations are ONLY needed on weekends
Right. I probably didn't word my previous post clearly but reservations are ONLY required for the weekends and public holidays, and they don't book in advance further out than the nearest weekend. So if you're going to visit later than the weekend of the 13th or 14th of May, you're too early.
Not trying to piggyback off the post but...
I am under the impression that the Pantheon is no longer free. Or they will be charging pretty soon.
I'm assuming that if you show up to the Pantheon without the reservation, you will be assessed the fee.
Perhaps the OP is more focused on the free reservation tickets, because it is free....and less concerned about the reservation aspect of it.
An entry fee was proposed and agreed upon by church and culture officials back in March. They haven't worked out the technical details, that I've seen anyway, on when/how it will actually be imposed.
I want a free reservation for Friday afternoon, May 12, to avoid the queue. I realize reservations are not required on weekdays, but I understood from Rick's Rome guidebook that, unless I wanted to pay for a tour, a reservation was the only way to avoid the line to get into the Pantheon.
As already mentioned above reservations are for weekends only. During the week you will need to line up like everyone else.
I found no mention of weekday reservations in the guidebook. Rickβs advice is to arrive early, which is what we do.
Right. Reservations are only possible to make for a Saturday, Sunday or holidays, not Fridays.
I am here now and they will start charging July 1, 2023. There is not a clear understanding of how that is going to affect the line process but it is expected to be longer.
Thanks for all input on this. It did seem that fee starts July 1. We are there both July 17 and 18. Would also love more information once it gets established.

Best place to get the most current info is on the Pantheon's own website. That's where they'll post the new procedure for entry fees once they figure out how it'll work so check back now and again. BTW, the start date for the fee has now moved to July 3.

I'll be interested to see if they actually pull this off by the target date. π
We visited Pantheon on a Friday. Arrived about when it opened (9:30am?). No wait, walked right in, no charge to enter. Remember your shawl and long pants / dress as it is a holy site. We saw folks being turned away.
When we exited about an hour later the queue was quite long.
As of July 3 the entry fee is required for any visit except for Mass. The https://pantheon.cultura.gov.it/en where you purchase your reservation for 5 euros is not operating. You will get an error message. The https://pantheonroma.com website sells audio tours and guided tours. The entry fee is not included with their tickets. It is a pretty big mess right now. There is no way to purchase the entrance reservation from the online site currently. You can wait in line at the Pantheon to make your purchase. Even so, it is not included with the audio tour or guided tour available at pantheonroma.com. They are supposed to update as things change, but so far, you cannot reach the site. The fee has been required since July 3 for every day of the week. Below is the error message you receive:
<The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator at root@localhost to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.>
To purchase just an entrance ticket you need to go to www.museiitaliani.it, set up an account and then you can access the dates and tickets. It looks like they are only selling them about a month out, but there seems to be plenty of openings. If you do decide to to a tour or an audio guide, you still need to purchase the entrance ticket. This website has the information you will need https://www.wantedinrome.com/news/how-to-visit-the-pantheon-in-rome.html
Anyone having trouble booking tickets through the museiitaliani.it website? Their system continually declines my credit card... I called Chase and they insist it's an issue on the vendor's side because there's nothing wrong with my card. Just wondering if there's some sort of trick to it.
