Pantheon entrance

We want to visit the Pantheon on a Sunday in August. I understand that they have Mass at 10:30 and we do not wish to attend services. Yet, visitors are allowed on Sunday. Years ago we just walked in but now I think a line is formed. Would appreciate someone sharing their recent experience of how entrance is being managed, like any security, lines forming, limited number of people in, and time allowed inside. Thank you.

We just returned from Rome about 3 weeks ago and visited the Pantheon and walked by it many times as we were staying in the neighborhood. Early is better; lines by afternoon were across the piazza. We were there right at 9:00 and entered within a few minutes. The only security was checking to be sure that shoulders were covered. We did not see a limit on crowd size or a limit on visit time, but that may be different in the afternoon.

Here is the Pantheon's website:

As noted on this page, (free) advance bookings are mandatory for weekends and holidays:

Here is where you do that:

As stated on this page, Sunday Mass is at 10:30....

....but visiting hours are 9.00 am to 7.00 pm every day except for special religious occasions. Best bet? Try to book for 9:00, 9:30 or 10:00 AM so you're done before services begin?

Thank you so much for the information and sites. Wow, lots has changed since we were there last in 2012, when we had the freedom to walk in and out as we pleased all day, any day. Read that weekend registration is required only a week in advance. Thinking, I will check the Sunday before at midnight. Any ideas there?
