Does anyone have any tips for seeing Palio? My family will be there for the July 2 Palio.

I understand that tickets to the event are Euro 400 each at this point! My contact said to just stand in the Campo with the thousands of others. I've read you need to arrive about 4 hours before the race to get a good position. I'm guessing just being in the crowd is thrill enough.
Did you manage to find accommodation in Siena proper for that weekend?

Yes, I made reservations at Hotel Duomo over 6 months ago. There was no problem then.
