Has anyone been to the Palio in Siena? We have tickets for this today and read that there are no bathroom facilities etc. Does anyone have any advice? We are bringing water, and spray bottle, hats and sunscreen, but wondered if anyone else had good advice.

There are no WC in the Piazza but you can go in some facilities (Public WC or bar/cafe outside) before entering the Piazza.
If you have incontinence problems and need to go often, then I suggest diapers.

Note that Roberto is not making a joke. This idea is widely discussed for New Years Eve in Times Square NYC. For more money, some Siena bars and restaurants sell tickets on their patios, which of course include the bar’s facilities.

The Palio was a highlight of our family’s trip to Tuscany and Siena. We all still have our scarves. Go to a bar or restaurant to use a toilet.
