Palio

We will be staying in Florence and have tickets for seats at the July 2 Palio. What is the best way to get from Florence to Siena?

Larry - you can go back to your 2 identical posts and you will be given the choice of either "edit" or "delete". You should delete one of them. See you in Italy.

You don't need expensive tickets to enjoy the Palio, you can sit on the ground in the square till it starts, then you stand. it was hot but we still had a great time; my friend had a bunch of podcasts we listened to while waiting.

Charlie, not sure what you are referring to as I had not previously posted anything. Paul and Elaine, thanks for the info. And the seats I got were NOT inexpensive.

Larry, I think Charlie was referring to your duplicate Thread on this topic, which I replied to a few days ago. I've duplicated my reply here in order to keep all your replies in the same place (perhaps there are two different "Larry's" from San Diego?). For travel from Florence to Siena, the best option is to take the Bus as you'll be dropped in Piazza Gramsci, right in the middle of Siena. It's an easy walk from there to "Il Campo". If you take the train, you'll have to take a Taxi from the station up to the town. The Bus station is almost right next door to Firenze SMN rail station. As I recall, tickets have to be validated prior to boarding. I'm assuming you won't be travelling with larger luggage items, so you can take smaller carry-on items in the cabin. If you're returning the same day, be sure to note the time of the last Bus. Buon Viaggio!
