Palermo, What area for a B& B

I will arrive on Sept. 10, Saturday, for 2 nights before picking up my car to travel the island. I would like to be in an area close to public transportation such as a bus station/stop or train for day trips. A safe neighborhood where we can walk to dinner is a plus. Additionally, suggestions on boutique hotels or B&B at about $150 per night would be great. Thanks

I have never spent $150 on a hotel in Palermo, check a booking website and you will see that there are lots of well-located, highly rated places for under $100.

I recently stayed at B&B Federico Secondo, inside the Cathedral zone, about three blocks from a major bus stop. It was a lovely little B&B.

Not to reinvent the wheel...see Harold's, Zoe's, Jane's recommendations - they all look great:

Alternatively, look at the many choices on booking.com. I don't think you realize how inexpensive Sicily is - no need to spend $150 per night anywhere (probably the prices in Taormina would be that high but Taormina caters to wealthy tourists).

Thanks Zoe and Agnes,

Agnes, I didn't see a reply from Jane or Harold. Can you direct me to them? Also, how about the neighborhoods, what area do you recommend, near the harbor or inland?
Thank you again,

Lorieann

Here is an excellent link for everything about Sicily.
You can search for hotels, B&Bs, maps, transportation , everything.
I used it a lot for planning my trip several years ago.

Hi Lorieann, After reading it often, this is my first post on the RS Forum, hope it isn't too late for your travel planning. My wife and I have spent several months in Sicily over the past few years, and in fact are in Sicily now. Last year we stayed at Palazzo Pantaleo in Palermo for three nights before flying home to the States. It is a B&B, but sort of a cross between a B&B and small hotel. It is located in the heart of the city, just a block from Politeama and maybe five blocks from Teatro Massimo. As I recall it was about 100 euros per night. We enjoyed it very much, breakfasts were great. In fact we drove there, unloaded our luggage, then returned the rental car to the in-town rental office, since the car was not necessary in Palermo. We took a taxi to the airport on our day of departure. We have driven all over Sicily and really enjoy it. Happy Travels!
