I would like to make a daytrip to Villa Casale from Palermo. SAIS bus schedule shows buses leaving Palermo at 6:30 AM and then at 1PM. Trains are equally inconvenient. Please advise. Thank you.

This is a difficult one. You can get a bus to Piazza Armerina (travel time approx. 2.5 hrs.) but then must either get a taxi or walk the remainder of the way to Villa Casale (I understand it takes about an hour to walk there). The alternatives are rent a car for the day or find an organized day tour from Palermo. There is no train station in Piazza Armerina. You should also check on the progress of restorations at the Villa, which have been ongoing for over a year now. This is a day trip we have done by car from Taormina.
