Palermo to Agrigento without a car

I am so stuck with this part of my trip. Could someone direct me to a way to get from either the airport or the centre of Palermo to Agrigento? I made a rookie traveller error and booked 2 nights near San Vito lo Capo and now have to figure out how to get to Agrigento. The only way seems to get to the airport in Palermo and go from there. At this point I am thinking half public transport and finding a driver the rest of the way. Any insights? Much appreciated.

You can take a train from Palermo Centrale to Agrigento. It takes about 2 hours.

Hello,

Thank you. It is going to be quite the long journey from San Vito Lo Capo to the airport and then another 2 hours.

There are some direct trains from Palermo airport to Agrigento. I saw one this week when I was departing from Agrigento. And when I just checked on the Trenitalia app I found one today departs 1340 and arrives 1614. We found the Trenitalia app easy to use to book and to have our tickets on. You do need to check in on the app before the scheduled departure time to validate your ticket. And you can buy more than one ticket so only one of your party actually needs the app.
