Hello,
I will be in Palermo for three weeks in June, but I'm not sure what neighborhood to stay in. I'd like to be in a younger, hip area where there is a lot going on. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Check out this Rick Steves blog posting. The Quattro Canti (Four Corners)neighborhood may be to your liking.
I am not sure where you should stay - I stayed near Teatro Massimo which was nice and had a lot going on but wasn't especially hip. However, the Vucceria market at night was quite lively - that's not a place to stay but somewhere you should check out. During the day it's an ok market but at night it becomes more of a gathering place with bars and people hanging out. An older couple I met described it as sketchy, but I didn't feel that way.
We are currently staying in an Airbnb apartment listed as “Via Roma very central flat”. It is very large and comfortable. Within walking distance of many sites, bars and restaurants. We are very pleased with the location. It is near Teatro Massimo and us quite reasonable (about $55 a night). Having a washer is great!
