We will be traveling to Sicily for two weeks before heading to Puglia for a week. We have chosen four bases - Palermo, Ortogia, Taormina and Polignano. Can you recommend restaurants in each place?

-Siracusa, Caseificio Borderi- wonderful sandwiches!
-Ortigia, Locanda Del Collegio- excellent, we ate their twice.
-Taormina, Rosticceria Da Cristina- the best Arancini we had in Sicily! My favorite was the Melanzane. Enjoy Sicily!

My favorite restaurant in Ortigia is Sicilia in Tavola. I ate there twice and ordered the same thing: Caponata alla Siciliana, the Spaghettoni alla Norma, and the Tiramisú for dessert.
Make sure you leave room for dessert and try their delicious tiramisu made with pistachio mascarpone cream.

The best gelato in Ortigia is at Gusto Gelateria, near the Duomo on Piazza Minerva.
