Any recommendations for Palermo hotels & any other hotels you have found special? (we will not have a car in Palermo so it can be city center however, after we pick up rental car and need parking availability and preferably outside of old towns.). TIA!
Check out Santuzza de Charme in Palermo and B&B Terrazze di Montelusa in Agrigento, the favorites of our 2022 trip to Sicily.
In Agrigento, we stayed at B&B Villa San Marco and walked to the temples, in Marsala we enjoyed Hotel Carmine. In Taormina it was Hotel Bel Soggiorno, while in Cefalù we stayed at Hotel Alberi del Paradiso. We stayed at B&B Elvira Al Duomo in Monreale and the no frills Hotel Villa San Giovanni in Erice. Each had free parking.
We loved B& B Delle Vittorie in Palermo. It overlooks the pedestrian-only Via Maqueda but we were never bothered by noise. It was easy to walk to all the major sites. The couple that were running the place when were there in 2021 were wonderful, happy to give suggestions and had local information available. The room was good-sized with nice AC. This was just post-Covid, so they gave us a menu every day with breakfast options of our choice for the next day. I’m not sure how they handle it now, but what they offered was excellent quality.
Thank you so much for all the recommendations! I will look them up. So many choices in Palermo so want to stick to a hotel rather than B&B.
Anyone stayed at Hotel Politeama , Hôtel Frédérick , Hotel Porta Felice, or Bastione Spasimo Boutique Hotel, all in Palermo? If so what did u like? Good, safe location? (We do not need parking in Palermo)

We stayed at the Bastione Spasimo Boutique Hotel in Palermo for two nights before our Rick Steves tour of Sicily in September 2023. It is not quite as centrally located as the hotel we stayed with for the tour (Ambasciatori Hotel), but we did not feel unsafe. The property is beautiful, with a lovely swimming pool/garden. The breakfast was very good. The service was excellent (including arranging a car for us from the airport and booking dinner reservations). There is a good restaurant only steps away from the hotel (Osteria Alivaru). It was the nicest place we stayed in Sicily--highly recommended.
Mille Grazie!!!
We have stayed at the Hotel Politeama twice, with the last time being 8 years ago. Since then, the hotel has been completely renovated. It is is the middle of Palermo, so there are plenty of things to do within walking distance. The bus from the airport stops literally 20 feet away from the front door of the hotel. Ask for a room in the back of the hotel as there is a lot of traffic noise from the street in front. Also, their breakfast was excellent.
