are their any reasonable shuttle services that can be obtained on internet that provide services from air port to hotel?

Wendy, have you tried asking your hotel this? Oftentimes, the hotel either has or is affiliated with a shuttle service, which can be more reliable than one that is stand-alone.
Also, Palermo isn't a city that is very well covered on this site, but there is an absolutely FANTASTIC Destination Expert over at the TripAdvisor site in the Sicily forum, so if you don't get a better answer here, go ask her.

Not knowing which hotel you are at, but we took an airport bus from across the street from the Teatro Massimo. Our hotel was a short walk away. Cost for the 30 minute trip was about 5.80. The bus had made stops prior to ours and made a few stops on the way to the airport. Ask your hotel once you are there.
