Palermo Hotel Guidance

We have been looking at hotels in Palermo for 5 nights. Has anyone had any experience with "Hotel Posta", "Hotel Ambasciatori", "Hotel Porta Felice", or the "Grand Hotel et des Palmes"??? Any other suggestions would also be appreciated. I have checked on booking.com and tripadvisor and they all seem to have their positives and negatives. Please help
Grazie

Don,

You might have a look at Hotel Tonic in Palermo. I found it to be very comfortable, in a great location and above all, they had good A/C (which is important). It's easily reached from the airport (disembark from the Bus at Teatro Politeama).

Happy travels!

I stayed at the Hotel Posta on my RS tour.
The location is perfect, and it is a very nice hotel.
I was able to walk all over Palermo from there.
It is just off the main street, so there is not a lot of traffic making noise.
I would recommend it.

Question for Ken and Frances. Is there parking for patrons of either hotel.

@Fred,

I didn't have a car while there, but the hotel website states....

"Convention with garages offering "courtesy services": the person responsible will ensure that your car is taken from and brought back to the Hotel (this is an extra-cost service).

I'm sure the hotel staff would be able to provide more detailed information on parking arrangements.

Cheers!

I responded to a messages that Hotel Posta has parking info on their site.

Self parking fee: EUR 15 per night

I didn't check the other hotels mentioned above.

I stayed at the Delle Palme. Beautiful place, lots of history and good location. Not far from Teatros Massimo and Politieama (Politieama is also a stop for the Prestia buses from the airport)and reasonable walking distance to most other sights you'll want to see. Nice rooms and helpful staff who speak english. A bit pricey. Didn't have a car and no parking lot for the place but there is on street parking around (good luck with that!) but a lot of times hotels will have a deal worked out with a lot somewhere close by. For a good cheapie alternative I could recommend Hotel Italia which is on the other end of Via Roma by the train station. Small place with spartan rooms but clean and also close to most of the sights.Decent breakfast served in room and friendly staff. Not much English spoken.Same for parking situation. Also, last of the Prestia stops is at train station.

Thanks for all your replies. The hotel Posta is cheaper and in a good location, but I can not get any responses from my emails which makes me wonder about them. I like the idea of it being a small establishment, but if they do not respond to me when I am trying to make reservations????.....I can always make reservations on booking.com, but will they honor them when I get there?? Will try some of the others instead.
