If anyone is interested here is a link to an article from the NY Times about Palermo. I visited in May and this would have been nice to read in advance.
Thanks, that will be useful.
We were also there in May. We visited Palazzo Butera on the recommendation of a colleague from Palermo. A great surprise!
When we were there, Palermo had lots of tour groups but heard little English. I suspect that will be changing.
Yes, BethFL, Palazzo Butera was also one of our favorites. We were also there in May and the rainy weather brought us there and we were very happy with our rainy day choice! The juxtaposition of artwork with the architecture and design of the building was quite special!
Another non touristy activity is to visit the Botanic Garden.
It’s very restful, quite large, and plenty of shade.
We liked it, and you can walk along the waterfront nearby afterward.
