I was planning on taking a taxi from the airport to my hotel. However, after reading The Best of Sicily I think I need to find an alternative. Can someone advise me on the safest, quick and affordable way to get to my hotel? We want an expeditious transfer because we are arriving after a 10 hour flight from USA.

The same website mentions an airport bus, which happens to have a stop near your hotel (Piazza Politeama) - cost is less than 6 EUR. Is there another option you were looking for? Perhaps it may be worth asking the hotel for a transfer if you don't feel comfortable with either a cab or bus. Whatever you choose, it will be only as expeditious as traffic allows - there's no way around traffic in Palermo.
